Hi, my name is Kasia
Weaving is my passion. I keep falling in love with the myriads of colours and textures of the different yarns, fibers and fabrics. I keep falling in love with the transformation that happens through my own hands when they all mysteriously come together to create a delicious, one of a kind, complexity.
Weaving is my meditation, my prayer and my way of honoring and celebrating Gaia, our first Mother. I mindfully take time to weave my intentions and love into every work I make.
Personally, I am a Mum of two adults, one teenager and the fury creature you can see in the photo :) Professionally, I am a Women's Holistic Coach, supporting midlife women in living full, rich, wholehearted life, even in the midst of all their midlife challenges.
Materials I use
I use only natural materials: wool, cotton, silk, jute, bamboo... most of them recycled. Shimmering silk scarf from a charity shop; thick, edgy wool yarn forgotten at the bottom of my mum's wardrobe; ethereal cotton dress in deep earthly colour and a ripped edge - all can find their second life here. And what a life it is!
I also love working with local Irish wool rovings, Shetland wool and amazingly soft alpaca wool. I often use sari silk remnants which come in mesmerizing colours and patterns. Natural strings, made with raffia, cotton, bamboo or hemp are also among my favorite materials.
Inspiration
My main inspiration comes from Nature itself. I am fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, surrounded by windswept lush meadows, mesmerizing glacier lakes and wild, heather -topped mountains. And of course, the hair-rising, magnificent Atlantic Ocean! Celtic culture with its deep connection to Earth and vibrant festivals and celebrations has also a powerful impact on my work. My weavings are a humble attempt to capture the essence of this beauty, to reflect it through the colors, textures and patterns, and to bring it to your home, so that they can nourish your heart and feed your soul, every time you look at your wall.
Creative Process
Each weaving tells a different story. Sometimes it starts with a breathtaking landscape, a heart- moving song or poem, a powerful dream or just an inspired thought. At other times, it is a beautiful yarn or a piece of fabric that calls to me loudly, asking to be transformed and woven into something completely new. I take time with each of my weavings - letting the inspiration ripen in my heart until it's ready to be born. And once the process starts, I do my best to trust, to surrender, to lean in, to embrace .... and let the story unfold itself through my hands. I always feel deeply humbled and honored by being a part of this mysterious process.
